It happened around 12:37 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 1 in Coram, Suffolk County Police said.

Sixth Precinct officers responded to the intersection of Beach Lane and Judith Drive after receiving a 911 call reporting shots fired.

When the officers arrived, they located Jaifield Gordon, 18, of Medford shot inside a 2013 BMW that had crashed into a parked car and fence in front of 55 Beach Drive, police said.

Gordon was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives believe the shooting occurred on Judith Drive.
